Types of Therapeutic Massage

Deep Tissue Massage

This type of massage works the deeper muscles and connective tissues. They lie under the superficial tissues which are the primary focus in Swedish massage. Deep tissue massage does not mean it will hurt, it simply means more pressure is used to affect deeper muscles. If you experience pain during a treatment it is very important to let your practitioner know.

Neuromuscular Massage

This therapy is the use of pressure on specific points to relieve pain. This technique manipulates the soft tissue of the body (muscles, tendons and connective tissue) to create balance in the nervous system and physical body. Neuromuscular is a term for several different techniques including trigger point therapy and myofascial release.

Swedish Massage

This is a more gentle form of massage, which promotes relaxation, eases muscle tension, increases circulation, helps with depression and offers many other health benefits. It is great for clients wishing to ease post-workout tension.

Hot Stone Massage

Heated stones are used as a massage tool as well as placed at specific areas on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function.

Aromatherapy

Essential oils are used to aid the release of tension and also can provide a variety of health benefits. Clients are given a few choices and asked to follow their intuition when selecting the oil to be used. Only therapeutic grade oils are used.

Sound Healing

The soundtrack to your session is a blend of Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, and didgeridoo. The ancient sounds of these vessels are grounding, opening, mystical, and can activate & balance chakra centers in the body.

Reiki

Reiki is a gentle yet powerful Japanese healing technique that promotes relaxation and stress reduction. It is administered by “laying on hands” along the head and torso while laying fully clothed on a massage table. It releases negative energy held within your Body Mind & Spirit that limit your happiness and health.
